"Introducing the Future" Community Dinner
Saturday, March 15, 2014
12:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Curtis Products
401 Bendix Drive. South Bend, IN 46628
(Formerly Bendix Corporation Administration Building)
"Introducing the Future" is the kickoff event to build support and momentum for
The Eating Well Grocery Store & Community Cafe.
· Residents in the LaSalle Square area express the need for a grocery store in their neighborhood.
· Currently, it is more difficult to buy an apple or a carrot than to buy a soda or candy bar.
· 18% of residents living within a one-mile radius of the LaSalle Square site have no transportation.
· These circumstances make you 25-46 percent LESS likely to have a healthy diet than people with supermarkets near their home.
PLAN OF ACTION: The Eating Well, a non-profit food market founded by LaSalle Square neighbor, Marilyn Gachaw and co-founder Catherine Flatley and others, will provide access to fresh, healthy and affordable food at LaSalle Square, located on Bendix Drive, near Lincoln Way West. We are hosting a community meal to raise funds and awareness to get our project started.
Please join us on March 15th. We will have a meet-and-greet from noon until 1pm. The meal will be served from 1-3pm and there will be a brief program at 1pm. There is no charge to attend the meal, a free will offering will be greatly appreciated.
